Originally from Moscow Russia, Nelly Riekse has lived in the United States since 2001. Throughout her life, she has used her creative talent in many areas including, theater, film productions, advertising, television, and photography, as well as her painting and illustrations. As a make-up artist for television and the Film Industry, she had the pleasure of working with many important personalities such as President Gorbachev, leading politicians, and well known celebrities.
Nelly attributes her love of art and much of her learning to her father Dr. Evgeny Shiryaev (PhD), a renowned Russian scientist and painter. He has been her best teacher throughout their years of working together.
Recently, her work has been on exhibit in various galleries in the United States. In the summer of 2009 Nelly finished a joint commission, with her father, of 40 historical portraits for a prestigious University Museum in Moscow.
